Like most of us, I am using a web-based calendar to sync across devices and PIM applications. Like many developers, I seriously love the unix command line interfact and the flexibility it brings.
There’s a very nice calendar program on unixoid systems: pal – it’s easy to configure, ridiculously fast, and it exports to LaTeX or HTML. But it does not read iCal files – mainly because it is not pal’s job to do so.
So I built a script to do that for me: ical2paleventfile reads one or many ical files from configurable web addresses and creates pal event files from them.
It’s Free Software (as in freedom) and licensed under the GPLv3. Feel free to report bugs, ical files that don’t work. Also, and changes that improve the script are welcome.
